A Writer’s Website

Daily writing prompt
What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months?

Which is a reality every writer faces.

My goal is to always have at least 70 queries out. To keep track of this, I have set up an Excel spreadsheet that I keep carefullly updated. Rejections are highlighted in yellow.

I started sending queries out in December, so I’ve reached the point where at least one rejection a day is arriving by email. Every day the yellow part of the spreadsheet grows. Every day at least one rejection must be replaced with a new query.

That’s just how it goes.

  1. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I did self-publish a book in the small town where I live, and it caused me a lot of grief/harm. I have also since heard that publishers don’t like it when you self-publish. The person leading the writing group I used to be with said some famous writers had self-published, but I think it earns a writer a black mark. I needed some guidance with my book, too, which I didn’t get because there was no one I trusted to help me with it. I took it out of print and have let things just die down…. My sad tale of woe…. I guess it’s lost its importance for me.
