“…beautiful long hanging basket held the slumbering Caterina, who was golden like her sister, but with hair a reddish brown so tightly curled it looked like a soft cloud hugging the baby’s head.“

Caterina, was born in New Orleans in 1878, at the end of one of the worst Yellow Fever epidemics in the city’s history. Her parents still light candles every week at St. Elmo’s in thanks for her being born alive and robust.
She sees every adult as a friend who will pick her up and bounce her.
